Deputy Secretary - Consultant
Deirdre A. Morgan is the deputy secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. Appointed by Secretary Ed Wall Oct. 29, 2012, Morgan is responsible for the day-to-day operations and ensuring the mission and vision of safety to the citizens of the state of Wisconsin is upheld.
Morgan has a long standing commitment to the criminal justice profession as demonstrated by her 28 years of experience in corrections, education and senior management. Morgan began her career as social worker at Ethan Allen School for Boys in Wales, Wis. in 1985 and has served in a variety of positions including but not limited to: juvenile parole and adult probation and parole agent, Wisconsin Department of Justice director of communications and public policy, Wisconsin Correctional Center System human resources director, DOC executive assistant and Oakhill Correctional Institution warden. Deputy Secretary Morgan also served as the State of Wisconsin Parole Commission chairperson from Feb. 2001 – Jan. 2003 where she was responsible for developing and implementing victim attendance at parole hearings.
Morgan has served and continues to serve or be a part of numerous committees, assignments and initiatives to improve collaboration within DOC and external partners.
Morgan is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a Bachelors of Science in Social Welfare.
