Ken began his thirty year career in law enforcement starting as a part-time jailor/dispatcher for Marquette County until accepting a full time position as a Police Officer for the Village of Poynette. After funding for the Poynette position ended, Ken worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for eight years as a general laborer and Park Ranger before being hired by the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs as a Security Officer at Volk Field Air Force Base at Camp Douglas.
In September of 1990 Ken transferred to the University Police Department in Madison as a Police Officer where he worked second shift until his promotion to Sergeant in 1997. During his time as Sergeant, Ken worked third shift patrol, supervised the department's Community Officers and served as the University Hospital Sergeant. In 2003 Ken was promoted to Personnel Lieutenant where he continued until his retirement in 2010. During his time at the UWPD, Ken was a residence hall liaison officer, field training officer and supervisor; and a firearms instructor. Ken graduated from the Northwestern University Police School of Staff and Command in 1999.
Ken has extensive experience in employment investigations and search and screening processes. Additionally, Ken's firearms instructor experience includes dealing with active shooters and terrorism.
